semester 1 reflection
1) quality of work
i think my overall quality of some of my photos has really increased from last year's photo class. the structure looks nicer in some photos more than others. the quality of my subject matter was a little rocky at the beginning of the year but it began to progress as the year went on. for the most part i think i fulfilled what the assignment asked us to do. the taking the assignment above and beyond aspect is definitely something i can work towards in the second half of the year. proper format and resolution is always what it should be, seeing as i learned all of that last year. completing the work on time is also something i need to work on but my time management skills in general are pretty sucky. i usually try and think of more than just my first idea but usually i don't end up liking them as much so i end up going back to my original idea.
2) effort
with my effort in class i try and participate in class enough. but when it comes to actively taking photos, i sometimes lack there because i'll just get caught up in whatever i'm doing and not even think of getting my phone out to take pictures. i don't necessarily look for the easiest subject but for a convenient one that doesn't compromise my original intention for the photo. i usually always have at least the minimum required amount of photos but sometimes i do take more, it just depends on how wrapped up in it i get. i don't give up if the shot is too hard, but i'll try my best to achieve it and if i don't like how it looks then i'll move onto something else then. i always try to have a positive outlook on other people's work because i would want them to treat me the same way.
3) participation
i'm always pretty punctual when it comes to getting to class on time, i try not to be tardy ever really. working through the block is something i need to work on. sometimes i just say i'll do it at home cause it will be easier cause at the end of the day i'm just ready to go home. i normally, when it comes to my photos, always work independently, cause it's just easier for me to think that way. another thing i'm not so good at is working and using class time productively. but you already know that :). i just want to say i'm not doing out of disrespect, i just get distracted easily.
4) improvement
i don't think i've really found my personal style as a photographer yet. i just try my best to achieve the assignment and post something i actually like. there's definitely room to improve technically, but i think that is something that might come with time and practice. my images should be more compelling and i want them to be, i just don't really know what to change to make that happen. i probably do need more confidence when it comes to my photos but i think the confidence i do have shines through in certain images more than others.
5) adjustment
i'm going to try to improve upon all the things i listed in my previous paragraphs. with your help i could probably improve on the technical and more compelling aspects. but the staying focused and on task parts are something i have to figure out on my own. but i want to try and do better and not let myself just brush things off too easily. so here's to hoping for an even better second semester :).
*recommendation*
maybe we can do a project where we recreate one of our old family photos or memories.
